Sebastian Smee is the author of “The Art of Rivalry: Four Friendships, Betrayals, and Breakthroughs in Modern Art” and art critic for the Washington Post. He worked for eight years as the art critic at the Boston Globe, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2011. Born and raised in Australia, he has written five books on Lucian Freud and one on Mark Bradford. He teaches non-fiction writing at Wellesley College.
