Stephen Tourlentes is Photography Studio Manager and Visiting Faculty whose photographic practice investigates the American landscape in the age of mass incarceration. His work is motivated by his concern with the lack of social investment in communities that has led to the systematic growth in the prison industry. His work has been widely exhibited both nationally and internationally including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Chicago Art Institute and The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. He is the recipient of many awards for his work including a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, an Artadia Fellowship, Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowships and a McDowell Colony Fellow. He was a finalist for the ICA Boston’s Foster Prize and is included in the upcoming Decordava Museum Biennial.
